As usual, I didn\u2019t present the operational figures. Instead, I used my half-hour slot to step back from day-to-day matters and help the team look at the bigger picture, which is rends and the future.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This time, my topic was AI. I\u2019ve spoken on this subject before, but this is my second take: with a sharper focus and a deeper message.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My presentation had only five slides. Each slide contained just a few words, but they summed up the essence of four major waves in IT history. The fifth slide outlined our company\u2019s strategic response to the current wave of AI transformation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We often say that technology evolves rapidly. And indeed, new innovations seem to emerge every year or two. Software tools entered the business world and boosted operational and production efficiency across industries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Impact<\/strong>: IT became a helpful assistant to businesses, driving the efficiency revolution.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 45%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Wave 2: The Internet Era\u202f(Mid-1990s)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Key Feature<\/strong>: B2B and B2C. Digital transformation accelerated. With computing power in our hands and data flowing freely, new industries emerged, and daily life changed.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Impact<\/strong>: IT became not just a friend, but a formidable rival to traditional sectors.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 43%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p style=\"font-size:22px\"><strong>Wave 4: The AI Era\u202f(Starting 2023)<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Key Feature<\/strong>: B2B, B2C, and now B2G (integration with government smart city platforms). The age of AI agents is still in its infancy, but what lies ahead resembles what we&#8217;ve seen in science fiction.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Impact<\/strong>: AI is not just changing industries, it may soon redefine the human role itself.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"702\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.timeteccloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Ai-SMEs-falling-behind2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3071 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.timeteccloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Ai-SMEs-falling-behind2.png 702w, https:\/\/www.timeteccloud.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/Ai-SMEs-falling-behind2-300x214.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 702px) 100vw, 702px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, I asked a question: Did anyone notice a pattern across these waves?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With each wave, the demand for IT professionals grew. But just before the explosion of the fourth wave, AI, the opposite happened. Massive layoffs swept through major tech companies around the world. And the first jobs to go? IT jobs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In just the first half of 2024, over\u202f<strong>500,000 tech workers<\/strong>\u202fhave been laid off globally.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unlike previous revolutions that disrupted other industries, this AI revolution began by\u202f<strong>disrupting its own creators<\/strong>. High-level AI engineers are using generative AI to replace junior developers. And soon, as AI gains the ability to train and upgrade itself, even AI engineers may become obsolete.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t fear-mongering\u2014it\u2019s already happening.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So the question is:\u202f<strong>What should we do?<\/strong> \u202fAre we ready?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My final slide addressed exactly that: the strategies and changes our company is implementing in response to this AI revolution. As this touches on core business strategy and trade secrets, I won\u2019t elaborate here.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table is-style-regular\"><table class=\"has-background has-fixed-layout\" style=\"background-color:#fffcdf\"><tbody><tr><td>But one thing is certain:&nbsp;<br><strong>We\u2019re not spectators.
