The Euro-style aluminium plate features a green stripe, hologram, laser-engraved serial and tamper-proof screws, with JPJ emphasizing that its adoption will facilitate consistent enforcement and vehicle identification nationwide.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Embedded in each plate is a UHF RFID chip whose\u202f<strong>Tag Identifier (TID)<\/strong>\u2014a factory-burned, read-only code stored in the TID memory bank\u2014is globally unique and cannot be altered, providing strong anti-cloning assurance for future multi-lane free-flow or MLFF tolling, smart-parking and enforcement systems. JPJ and the Ministry of Transport plan to extend the same TID-based ePlate standard to internal-combustion cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles once pilot data are reviewed and production scales, aiming for full national rollout \u201cwithin the next few years.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How the unique TID standard for RFID technology secures JPJ ePlate?&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>TID<\/strong>\u202fstands for\u202f<strong>Tag Identifier<\/strong>. In every EPC Gen-2 (RAIN UHF) RFID chip there is a dedicated\u202fMemory Bank 10 (called \u201cTID memory\u201d) that the silicon foundry programs once at wafer-level and then permanently locks. It contains:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><thead><tr><th><strong>Field<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Purpose<\/strong><\/th><th><strong>Programmability<\/strong><\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Manufacturer ID (MDID)<\/strong><\/td><td>Identifies the chip vendor (e.g., NXP, Impinj, Alien)<\/td><td>Factory-set, read-only<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Tag Model Number (TMN)<\/strong><\/td><td>Identifies the exact chip family &amp; revision<\/td><td>Factory-set, read-only<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Unique Serial Number<\/strong><\/td><td>A per-die, never-repeated binary value<\/td><td>Factory-set, read-only<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Because none of these bits can be altered in the field, the TID is&nbsp;<strong>globally unique and immutable<\/strong>. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TID is useful against cloning in 3 layers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\">\n<li><strong>Chip-level uniqueness<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A clone built with a different chip cannot copy the original TID, because the serial number is burned into silicon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the attacker tries to rewrite the counterfeit chip\u2019s TID, the hardware blocks the attempt.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>TID + EPC pairing check<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Good practice is to read&nbsp;<strong>both<\/strong>&nbsp;the EPC (the application ID you assign)&nbsp;<strong>and<\/strong>&nbsp;the TID, then store them as a fixed pair in your access-control or parking database.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At each gate the reader verifies that the live EPC and TID still match the enrolled pair. A copied EPC without the right TID is rejected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Foundation for cryptography<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>New Gen-2 v2 chips (e.g.,&nbsp;<strong>NXP UCODE DNA<\/strong>) embed AES-128.
